Yesterday morning, while watching the minutes tick off the clock in class, I started daydreaming about Davidson basketball. I gchatted my thoughts to BR (yes we have internet in class), but he was apparently too busy studying to join in with my fantasies of a miraculous Davidson tourney run.

A Conversation on Seeding

4th Watts: Lunardi has us projected as a 13 seed right now.
Base Rich: Yeah, I saw that. Has Lunardi's system ever meant anything though? I don't give it much credence.
4W: Where do you see us ending up?
BR: If Davidson wins the SoCon tournament and even drops a game in conference play, I think we'd deserve something more like an 11 seed. Seeding is always controversial -- those teams on the bubble almost always end up with higher seeds than strong mid-majors who rip through their conferences. I suspect it's just an artifact of the good ol' days when players stayed in school for four years and dynasties could emerge.
4W: This Bracket Buster game will give us a chance to improve our placement though. I'd love to be able to play some team like Drake.
BR: You keep on talking about Drake, but methinks their schedule is utter fluff and that they're bound to drop one soon. I'd take Butler any day. Higher ranking and more believers = bigger win for Davidson. It stinks that the Bracket Buster game will be on the road for us, but little jaunts like the one we're curren
